Butterfly Valve Actuator Types

Dual Acting Vertical Canister Actuator

Air-to-air acting vertical canister actuators use air from both sides to control the valve. In case of a malfunction the valve will remain in its most recent position.

Spring Return Actuator

Spring return actuators use a spring to maintain a default position and pressurized air is applied to move the valve from this default position.

Spring Return Actuator - Normally Closed

A normally closed actuator's default position is closed, in case of a failure the valve also failsafe closed. This actuator style is ideal for applications where the product line must remain closed in case of failure, such as the outlet on the bottom of a tank or a water-filling line.

Spring Return Actuator - Normally Open

A normally open actuator's default position is open, in this case, the valve will failsafe with the valve open. This actuator style is ideal for applications where the product must exit in the case of a failure, such as an overflow valve.
