C100/C+100

This is a C100 or C+100 pump head. It can be recognized by the combination of its boxy casing and wingnuts used to hold the casing to the adapter.
To tell if it is a C100 or a C+100 look at the adapter - specifically at where the wingnuts attach. On the C100 they attach to the back of the adapter. On the C+100 they attach to a band at the backplate mount.

Microbrew 100

This is a Microbrew 100 pump head, which looks like a combination of a C100 and C114. The main thing to recognize is the smaller pump head connected with a large Tri-Clamp. If your pump looks like this, you know it is a Microbrew 100, no need to check further.

C-Series/C+Series/CB+ Series

Excluding the C100/C+100, the C-Series, C+ Series and CB+ Series all look the same from the outside. They have an inlet at the center of the pump head, a curved "volute" shape casing, and vertical outlet.
To know what model of C-Series you have, you need to know the inlet size for the first number, the outlet size for the second number, and the impeller size for the third number. So if your inlet is 1.5" and your outlet is 1.5", and your impeller is 4" you have a C114. If your inlet is 2", your outlet is 1.5" and your impeller is 6" you have a C216. Easy right? Not so fast:
- C214: 2" inlet, 1.5" outlet, 4" diameter
- C316: 2.5" inlet, 1.5" outlet, 6" diameter
- C318: 3" inlet, 1.5" outlet, 8" diameter
They couldn't make it easy, could they?
It doesn't stop there. If the pump has Tri-Clamp connections (which most of ours do) the size of the inlets/outlets is measured from the outer diameter (OD) of the tubing that the Tri-Clamp end is connected to. This, of course, does not apply to a pump head. So to measure your pump's inlet or outlet size, you need to measure the ID and the OD of the flange, eg. a 1.5" Tri-Clamp will have a 1 3/8" flange ID and a 2" OD.
For more on this see our blog post: Why do different sizes of hose use the same size Tri-Clamp?
Also remember that some people cut down impellers! So if in doubt, you can measure the backplate. You don't need to be super exact here, as impeller sizes tend to come in 2" variations, eg. 114, 216, 218, etc.
pictured here is a C+216
The sign that a pump is a C-Series is whether it has a shaft with an impeller pin. Protruding past the impeller should be a rectangular nub with a small pin in it.

The C+ series looks exactly like the C-Series, but uses a locked impeller using an impeller nut.

Once you take off the casing, the CB+ will looks very different. The CB+ features an internal seal, which makes for an entirely differently shaped back plate and shaft assembly. It may have the classic seal with the spiral spring (depicted below), or our High Clean seal.

QIM Shear Pump

This one is a bit of a curve ball. From the outside it looks a lot like a C-Series pump, and it's sized in mostly the same way. However, this is a QIS shear pump. If in doubt take off the casing and look inside. The QIM Shear Pump features a backplate with radial slots or holes.

Inoxpa RVN

RVN pumps are very distinctive. Their conch-like casing and large inlets and outlets make them very easy to recognize. You can also easily tell if you have an RVN 65, 85, or 100 by size. If in doubt, measure the outlet.
- RVN 65 - 2 1/2" outlet
- RVN 85 - 3" outlet
- RVN 100 - 4" outlet

C-Series, C+Series (including C-100/C+100) Pumps
There are four things to consider when choosing a seal kit for a C-Series pump.
- You must know the model of your pump. We sell seal kits C-Series pumps through our website, but can offer others by special request.
- You must know if it is a standard "D" series seal, or a "DG" seal. A D-seal places the carbon seal face directly against the back plate of the pump. A DG seal has a modified back plate with a replaceable, stationary seal that the carbon seal runs against. C100 and C+100 pumps are only available with a D seal, while Microbrew pumps are only available with a DG seal.
- You must know what parts you want to replace.
- You must know what elastomers you need. For the C-Series Seal Kits we offer EPDM or Viton, with Buna-N available by request. For the C+Series Seal Kits we offer EPDM with other options available by request.

Microbrew 100 Pumps
Microbrew 100 pumps all have DG seals. As such all that must be considered when buying a Microbrew 100 seal kit is:
- What parts you need
- What elastomers you need. We offer EPDM or Viton by default.

CB+ Pumps
When looking at a CB+ seal kit you need to know:
- Your pump model. We offer seal kits for CB+114, 216, and 218/328 on our site.
- Seal style. We offer both traditional AMPCO style spring and High Clean cartridge steals for added cleanliness. In most contexts we suggest the High Clean seal.
- What parts you want to replace.
