
Barrel Pumps
Barrel Pumps are the easiest way to manage transfers from totes and barrels. Built to interface directly with them, these permit the transfer of purees quickly and easily, while also being portable and easy to clean. The design of these pumps allows them to transfer from the bottom up, minimizing oxygen ingress and reducing waste.
When choosing a barrel pump, it’s important to look at the viscosity of the liquid you plan to transfer. Axial-flow impeller models like the F427 and FP430 top out at 1,000 mPas which can make it harder to move some high viscosity ingredients. Meanwhile, the F570’s progressive cavity pump can transfer up to 100,000 mPas, but due to its low flow rate (13 GPM) it can be too slow for large volumes.

Diaphragm Pumps
Diaphragm pumps are the Swiss Army Knife approach to tote transfer. A multi-purpose pump suitable for various functions across a facility; they’re often used in puree transfers due to their ability to handle extremely high viscosity, their self-priming capability, and capacity for suspended solids. Depending on the model, they can also often transfer faster than a barrel pump. However, while they can connect to the discharge port on IBC totes, pumping from barrels can present more of a challenge, requiring additional equipment.
While all the AODD pumps we carry are easy to disassemble and clean, the process is not as convenient as it is with a (much smaller) barrel pump.
